CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels work by applying a specialized acid to the outer layer of the skin, revealing fresher, deeper layers underneath.

FAQ’s

  • Chemical peeling is a procedure that aims to accelerate skin exfoliation by the use of chemical substances resulting in renewed, healthier looking skin and more uniform complexion.

  • You may experience a mild tingling or warming sensation during the peel. This is normal and indicates that the peel is working to exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin.

  • Recovery time can vary. Please allow up to 5-7 days downtime with ittle to no sun exposure.

Immediately after your peel, the following responses are normal:

    • Redness to the treated area

    • A stinging sensation

The redness will diminish after the first few hours, and you may feel tenderness in the treated area. After a chemical peel, the skin is temporarily more sensitive to the sun, so wear sunscreen every day and avoid direct exposure to sunlight.

Within the first 48-72 hours, you may experience an increase in the shedding of dead skin cells. These will flake away themselves, although you will need to avoid touching and rubbing the treated area. That said, some patients may not experience any noticeable shedding of the skin.

Recovery time will vary depending on the type of peel you get and your skin’s response to the treatment. Your skin expert will be able to advise on how long you can expect the recovery to take post-treatment. Both peels require you to follow aftercare instructions to ensure the best results.
